Then, ouch! The porcupines’ quills hurt. They have to walk away from each other.
Soon, they feel cold again and want to snuggle up.
Then, ouch! Again they walk away.

An Iraqi Folk Tale
In the city of Baghdad, a man was about to go on a trip. But where should he keep his gold coins? As he looked around, he saw a jar and had an idea. He put the coins into the jar and filled it with mung beans.
Then, the man asked his neighbor to keep the jar for him.
One day, the neighbor wanted to use some mung beans for cooking. “That man has gone for seven years. Maybe he won’t come back,” he thought and opened the jar. The beans had gone bad. He took some out and saw the gold coins.
The neighbor took all the coins out. But it was clear that something was missing. What should he do? He quickly bought some mung beans and filled the jar back up.
Before long, the man came back. He found that his coins were missing, so he turned to the neighbor. But the neighbor said he didn’t know.
Soon, everyone in the city knew this story. Everyone talked about it.
One day, three children were performing a play by the street. Many people stood around and watched.
The “judge” asked the “neighbor,” “Did you steal the gold coins from the jar?” “No. It was filled with mung beans,” the “neighbor” answered.
So, the “judge” took a few beans from the jar and chewed them. He found that some were old and bad, but some were good and sweet. “You are lying! You stole the coins and then put other mung beans into the jar.”
